Position: Community and Volunteer Coordinator
Overview: Restorative Justice Community Action (RJCA) is a Minneapolis non-profit which works to improve community well-being through restorative practices. Using mainly a model called “Community Conferencing,” RJCA brings together those who have harmed with volunteer community members to discuss the impact of harm and together create an agreement to repair harm to the extent possible.
Since 1997 RJCA has received referrals from the Minneapolis City Attorney’s Office, Hennepin County Attorney’s Office, and other law enforcement entities, to address harm in a way that’s different than the traditional criminal legal process.
RJCA is seeking a qualified candidate to support our Adult Community Conferencing and Probation programs. The primary role will be to develop and maintain the networks of individuals and organizations necessary for the continued success of RJCA’s adult programs. This position reports to the Adult Program Manager.

  • Develop and implement community outreach strategies
  • Build relationships and awareness of restorative practices with communities most impacted by the criminal legal system
  • Maintain and build relationships with community stakeholders
  • Educate the public about RJCA in order to recruit volunteers for participation in RJCA programs
  • Provide/coordinate learning and skill development opportunities for volunteers for volunteers including facilitator training
  • Manage volunteer roster
  • Manage and coordinate volunteers for community events/programs
  • Attend RJCA and other relevant community events and meetings
  • Assist in the production of promotional materials and outreach campaigns
  • Other duties as assigned for programming
    Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in community organizing/outreach
  • At least two years of higher education in related field, preferred
  • Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of Restorative Justice practices, and have commitment to ongoing learning
  • Knowledge of Minneapolis and/or communities within Hennepin County
  • Experience with legal system a plus
  • Interest in multicultural work and serving diverse populations
  • Flexibility to work some evening and weekend hours
  • Event coordination and trainer experience a plus
  • Spanish and/or Somali language skills a plus
    Hours: Full-time 40 hours/week. Must be available Monday-Friday. Some evenings and weekends as needed.
    Salary: ($20-$22) per hour with health benefits
